Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Sept. 3rd: A Toddler’s Treat

On Monday, September 3rd,  a new generation of preschoolers will get the chance to experience Make-Believe as Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood premieres on PBS Kids  with a special one hour block of two back to back episodes. (check local listings for exact time).

Produced by The Fred Rogers Company, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood follows the adventures of a 4 year old tiger named Daniel Tiger, who is the son of Daniel Striped Tiger from the classic show Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Daniel Tiger uses the show to invite children into sharing his experiences in his peaceful yet lively neighborhood. Targeted toward preschoolers aged 2 to 4 and their parents, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood teaches kids fun and practical strategies and skills needed for growing and learning.

“No one knew better than Fred Rogers how to connect with children,” said Bill Isler, President of The Fred Rogers Company. “And, like Fred, Daniel Tiger will visit preschoolers every day. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is an exciting new series with all the right elements to appeal to today’s children and families. It’s well-poised to become a much-loved classic for years to come.”

Daniel starts his day by donning his red sweater, tying his sneakers and inviting his preschool pals at home into the bright and lively Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood features the next generation of the original characters from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Daniel’s best friend is O the Owl, who lives with his Uncle X in the tree next door to Katerina Kittycat, daughter of Henrietta Pussycat. Daniel also loves to visit Prince Wednesday, the youngest member of the royal family headed by King Friday, in his castle; and Miss Elaina, who lives with her parents, Lady Elaine Fairchilde and Music Man Stan, in the Museum-Go-Round. The familiar red trolley “ding dings” its way all around the Neighborhood.

And guess what?  We’re hosting a giveaway! One lucky aMomKnowsBest reader will win a Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood gift pack, complete with a Daniel Tiger luggage tag, crayons, Daniel Tiger printables, backpack and crayons, pencils, stickers, and more…and it’s all courtesy of PBS Kids!  Just leave a comment below telling me why you want to win or what you thought of the show.  We’ll pick a winner by September 6th.  Also, don’t forget to go to the PBS site for more Daniel Tiger interactive fun.

Phix NATURAL Energy Drink

PhixLet me start off by saying that I’m a tad bit leery of anything that claims to give you energy.  I have friends that down red bull and, frankly, it scares the heck out of me.  Maybe it’s flashbacks to all those NoDoz I took in college.  Well, recently I was sent a few boxes of Phix Energy Drink Mix.  I’ll admit it, I was sceptacle.  Phix, however, appealed to me because it is natural…blending green tea antioxidants, energy-restoring NADH, and yerba maté for enhanced vigor, plus vitamins and minerals. I recently started a job where I’m anchoring a morning show.  The last time I anchored a morning show, in Cleveland, I relied on coffee to get me through the day.  It works, for a bit, but then you crash and hit a wall.  A cat-nap turns into a 3 hour slumber!

I was willing to give Phix a try.  I can honestly say, it did its job.  About 30 minutes after drinking it I felt much more alert. It was as if I had a long-lasting energy boost, without crashing…and no jitters!  The Phix packets are super convenient to take to work or the gym; they come in packets and you can just dump them in your water bottle and shake.

GIVEAWAY & DISCOUNT ON YOUR NEXT PURCHASE:

One winner will receive 3 boxes of Phix and a coupon for 25% off a future purchase. To enter, just “Like” the Phix Energy Facebook Page and Follow Phix on Twitter. Leave a comment for each and you’ll be entered to win!

Holiday Gift Idea for the Kids! *GIVEAWAY included*

As the stores are starting to have holiday music playing and setting up decorations, I ask myself what am I going to get the kids this year? Of course I asked my kids what they wanted and they responded with a resounding “HEXBUGS!” chant.  They just really love these little robotic bugs.  I thought when I bought some for them last year that they would get bored with them and I would find them under their beds.  This has not been the case for us.  They really LOVE them and take care of them.

My kids are 7 and 4, and they both love these bugs.  My daughter has a travel case where she keeps her Nano bugs.  She organizes them and lines them up.  Both kids get very creative when playing with them.  They play school with them (bug students), they race them, and they play house/family with them (bugs are the mom/dad/kid).

Recently we got the Hexbug Inchworm.  Hexbug sells Inchworms, Spiders, Crabs, Ants, and Larva that are a bit different from the Nano bugs.  The Inchworm is a remote control bug that inches along forward and backward, side-to-side, and spins around.  The kids LOVE it!  It is now the leader of their Nano bugs.

For the GIVEAWAY, Hexbug is nice enough to donate one Hexbug Nano to a lucky winner!  If your kids do not have a Hexbug yet, you MUST enter and try and win one!  They will LOVE it!  If you do have some, you know that kids always want more to add to their collection!  ENTER the Rafflecopter at MamaLuvsBooks for your chance to WIN!  The more entires you do the more chance you will have to WIN!  CLICK HERE TO ENTER!!!

Whiter Teeth in Just Two Hours: Before/After Pics!

whiter teethAs I mentioned the other day, I was taking the Crest 2 hour challenge.  Just two hours to whiter teeth with Crest’s 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips!  Confession time: several years ago I tried one of those at-home whitening kits that took TEN days to get whiter teeth and, although I started to see results, by the third day my teeth were too sensitive and I had to stop using the strips.  These strips were different.  I had no sensitivity and with only a 2 hour time commitment required, I was free to go about my busy day without being tied to the house.

The box includes 4 sets of strips.  Used every 3 months, one box should last you a year.  Now, for the big reveal.  Here are my before and after pics:

Alex and Ani Jewelry: A Rhode Island Gem

I recently visited my local Alex and Ani store in Newport, RI.  It is a beautiful store with so many different types of jewelry to choose from.  Alex and Ani also have a store in East Greenwich, RI right up the street from me.  I am lucky to have many of these stores nearby, as the designer happens to be a local Rhode Islander.  This jewelry can be bought nationwide though.  Check out the Alex and Ani site to see where you can find a store, or to order some of this wonderful jewelry on-line!

As I write for different on-line sites, I actually reviewed Alex and Ani and have a GIVEAWAY for a wonderful piece of their jewelry.  Check it out at GalTime to enter the giveaway!

A Gift Both Baby and Mom Will Love (Giveaway)

Personalized CD

Years ago, while working as a news anchor in Arizona, I was turned on to a company called Name Your Tune.  If memory serves me correctly, the year was 2003 and Name Your Tune was just coming out with its first CD.  Name Your Tune is a compilation of classic children’s songs transformed to feature your child’s name in every song.  Brilliant.  The company was kind enough to send me a free CD with the name of my choice.  I had it made for my nephew, and it was an instant hit with both mom and baby. I have to admit, before I gave it to him, I listened to it…about 50 times.  These tunes are catchy!  No surprise, the CDs quickly became a staple in children’s music collections around the world.  As an added bonus, I’ve become quite friendly with the company’s owner, who is an absolute doll!  I will buy again and again from a company that not only has a great product, but also has amazing people behind their product….and so I have.  As my friends and siblings had children, I would buy the kids personalized CDs from Name Your Tune and was always asked,”Where did you find this?”

When, after 12 years of marriage, I finally had a baby, guess what showed up in the mail?  Yup, a personalized Name Your Tune CD for Paige.  To say that Paige loves this CD is an understatement.  She squeals with delight when we play it and sings along with the songs.  Adorable!  Each song says her name multiple times and the end of the CD has slower songs, so she can wind down.  In November of 2010, Name Your Tune came out with its second CD and I can’t wait to hear it.  You can catch a sample here.  Name Your Tune also has a ton of other personalized products, which look adorable, but I only have experience with their CDs.  It’s totally worth a visit to their website, though.

Here’s where it gets good.  The fine folks at Name Your Tune have agreed to put together a personalized package for YOU!!
